This photo was like something straight out of a Disney movie. Early one morning, my guide noticed this momma leopard was restless & anxious. He quickly realized she was looking for her young son. He said the two must have been separated during the night. We followed her for about 45 minutes. She was constantly calling out for him, but he didn’t reply. My guide was afraid that he might have been killed by a Cape Buffalo because he’s “quite cheeky”. At less than a year old, he doesn’t know enough to be on his own. My guide and I were despondent. Then, literally, less than a minute later, we saw him. He started walking towards his mother and then stopped. Initially, she didn’t see him. You could tell he knew he was going to be disciplined as soon as she saw him. As she walked towards him, she gave him that look that every mother gives their child when they’re angry / worried about their child’s safety but happy / relieved they’re ok.
